Coca-Cola Offers $1 Million for Sweetener Innovations

Coca-Cola is seeking public input in finding new sugar alternatives, launching two “Sweetener Challenges” on the HeroX crowdsourcing platform. The first challenge asks for scientists and researchers to work on discovering a “naturally sourced, safe, low- or no-calorie compound” that can be used as a sweetener for beverages. The grand prize for the discovery is $1 million. The second challenge asks the public to share their favorite methods of sweetening food and drinks in the “Sweet Story Challenge.” (Read More)




Amazon promises NFL advertisers it will track their ads

As part of its $50 million to stream 11 NFL games to Prime subscribers, Amazon has the rights to sell two minutes of ads each hour. The remainder of the ads will be delivered and sold by whichever network is also broadcasting the game at the time (CBS or NBC). In a typical NFL broadcast, that ad time is sold by local stations. It’s promising NFL sponsors that it will track how many people see their ads and then take action on and other sites across the web following the games. (Read More)


Bleacher Report’s House of Highlights gets 400 million monthly views

Bleacher Report acquired House of Highlights 18 months ago. House of Highlights netted more than 400 million views on Instagram in July, according to CrowdTangle, a social analytics tool owned by Instagram parent Facebook. In the past 12 months, House of Highlights has accrued 3.5 billion views, surpassing competitors such as the individual accounts for ESPN, Fox Sports and Bleacher Report. The account got 500 million interactions in the past 12 months and gets an average of 225,000 engagements per post today, making it one of the top 40 most-engaged accounts on Instagram. (Read More)


American Express: Play Tennis Against an AI Opponent at the U.S. Open

Fans aren’t given any equipment to face off against an AI opponent, but instead use their body and hands to return the ball. The game of air tennis is designed to read each player’s shape and build using a kinetic motion sensing device. American Express teamed up with Venus Williams once again to kick off the U.S. Open experience. Williams made an appearance at the fan experience on opening day to play a few sets. (Read More)
