ZAC BROWN’S SOUTHERN GROUND TO OPEN RESTAURANT AT PHILIPS ARENA

AXW conceptualized the formation of a partnership between three-time Grammy award-winning artist Zac Brown, of Zac Brown Band, and the Atlanta Hawks to co-develop a Zac Brown-themed restaurant inside Philips Arena. Under the Southern Ground family of brands, Zac Brown’s Social Club will be a full-service restaurant and will also include an adjacent concession stand for quick service food. Chef Rusty Hamlin, who has been cooking alongside Brown for over a decade, is designing the menu in the tradition of southern cooking. The restaurant will open at the start of the 2018-2019 NBA season when the $200 million renovation to Philips Arena is complete. (Read More)

AXW facilitated a partnership between PS Lifestyle’s American Senior magazine and Maria Shriver. Shriver graces the cover of the latest issue, which also features an exclusive interview with the famed journalist/activist. Additionally, American Senior was a proud sponsor of Shriver’s Move for Minds event held on June 4th. Thousands of people came together at Equinox fitness clubs in eight cities across the US for a specially designed brain-body workout and a panel discussion to benefit the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement, a global alliance committed to Alzheimer’s research and its disproportionate impact on women.

 

TIMBERS RESORTS ADDS NEW PARTNERS

Timbers Resorts, an international developer and operator of private boutique resorts and residence clubs in iconic vacation destinations, recently announced the addition of new exclusive benefits facilitated by AXW for its members and owners. To add to Timbers’ existing benefits with brands like Sentient Jet, AXW developed strategic partnerships with brands including, but not limited to, exclusive wine membership club, Porthos Wine; private healthcare advisory firm, PinnacleCare; high-end activewear brand, Lukka Lux; and white glove golf club and ski shipping service, Ship Sticks/Ship Skis. THE CHARITY NETWORK ACQUIRES GLOBAL PHILANTHROPY GROUP

The Charity Network recently acquired philanthropic consulting firm Global Philanthropy Group (GPG). GPG will be renamed CN Strategy & Solutions, continuing to develop and implement high-impact philanthropic strategies to complement the services offered by Charity Network. LA-based GPG offers performance vetting and evaluation, human rights record verification, digital and social media strategy and management, fundraising and event support, and more. AVIS

AVIS TO MANAGE GOOGLE’S SELF-DRIVING CAR FLEET

Waymo, the self-driving car unit of Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., has reached an agreement for Avis Budget Group Inc. to manage its fleet of autonomous vehicles. Waymo will own the vehicles and pay Avis for its service. This partnership is the first major one involving oversight of driverless car fleets, a business opening that could help the technology spread. Avis shares surged as a result. (Read More)

PFL DAYTONA RATINGS CONSIDERED A SUCCESS

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) debuted the night of Friday, June 30, with an innovative event never seen in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). The primetime NBCSN broadcast was the second largest ever to view an MMA event on the network and the largest in over three years. The event audience peaked at 495,000 viewers with an average of 291,000 over the 143-minute broadcast. (Read More)

Sharecare, the award-winning digital health company founded by industry pioneer Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz, recently announced that it has received an investment from global alternative investment fund, Summit Partners, bringing total funding to more than $300M since its founding in 2010. Sharecare will use this new capital to fund additional capabilities and build brand awareness to support the aggressive growth trajectory of both the company and its platform, which helps millions of people manage all their health in one place. 100 MILE GROUP’S JESSE ITZLER BRINGS EVEREST TO STRATTON MOUNTAIN

Jesse Itzler, the Managing Partner of The 100 Mile Group, Co-Founder of Marquis Jet, and NY Times bestselling author of Living with a SEAL, is bringing Mt. Everest, and its 29029 vertical feet, to Vermont’s Stratton Mountain for his 29zero29 event. 29zero29 will take place at Stratton Mountain from October 13-25, and will feature a basecamp with luxury tipi-tents, bonfires, music, food, and drink. The 29zero29 challenge will include a 1.1 mile run/walk/crawl up the mountain 17 times until Everest’s 29029 vertical feet have been climbed. Scott Conant introduces new seasonal dishes to his recently opened restaurant Fusco New York, located in Gramercy. Menu highlights include Truffled Corn Caesar with house-made burrata & caviar; Heirloom Tomatoes “Greco” Style with cucumber & whipped feta; and Soft Shell Crab with garlic scape salsa verde, yogurt & watercress. Starting July 17th, the restaurant has also launched Aperitivo Hour – a special limited menu with $10 drinks & risotto available from 4:30pm to 6:00pm, Monday through Thursday.
